Synopsis
These four college kids are terrified of being watched. Let's see what they do.
Four young friends with fracturing relationships take a camping trip to Southern Utah in order to escape an ecological disaster up North. Alone in the desert, they begin to suspect that their reality might not be as it seems, and soon realize they’re being observed by a mysterious cosmic force.

I love weird movies that take place in the desert. High strangeness. Choices. This is everything that I value in indie filmmaking—bold, inventive, and unlike anything I’ve seen to this point. More, please!

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Soho Horror Fest always urges (and rightfully so) viewers and reviewers to be kind and largely positive towards filmmakers and their work shown at the festival - after all, as I should know by now, getting a film to the point where it is shown at a festival is practically a miracle. So, of course, props to Matt Warren and team for getting their movie made!
Yet a film can't make this much prominent, overwhelming use of GenAI (to the point that it practically becomes the film's central visual gimmick) and expect me not to call that out. It frightens me a little how few reviews seem to acknowledge this major aspect of the film. It's a primitive form, sure,…

The meta concepts that this plays with are done in a very interesting and fun way, and Rene Leech in particular really shines in it.
Edit:
HOWEVER, I suspected that AI was used but didn't want to cast aspersions for a small film and team without being sure, but others seem to share the sentiment that it was definitely that. This is deeply disappointing, especially when you see a VFX studio and artists were involved, so why use something that robs real artists of their work and damages the environment? There's no excuses for it, no need for it, and it's frustrating to see another film that will be going on a streaming site normalizing the use of it. We…

Where To Watch: premieres at the 2024 Dances with Films
RAVING REVIEW: Stepping into the world of DELICATE ARCH is like entering a new dimension of horror filmmaking. This film’s inventive use of aspect ratios and filters keeps viewers engaged, questioning, and thinking, delivering a unique viewing experience. Its charm is amplified by a humorous narrative and solid performances from its central characters, making it a standout for horror enthusiasts.
The story follows four college friends—Grant (William Leon,) Wilda (Kelley Mack,) Cody (Kevin Bohleber,) and Ferg (Rene Leech)—on a camping trip to Southern Utah, escaping an environmental disaster back home. As their isolation deepens in the desert, they start questioning reality and sense an ominous presence watching them. This eerie…

Feels like a solid addition to stoner horror. A clever debut feature!

I was quite contently going along with their jaunt into the desert and then it unravelled into a indulgent meta mess of a movie.

From the very first scene you can tell this movie is gonna be super weird and unique, and boy is it. Hilarious, chilling, and so much fun with some of the most creative swings I’ve seen in awhile. Glad to have caught this on the big screen and I’m excited to see what Matt Warren does next!

Fun experimental horror clearly made by movie lovers for movie lovers. One of my favorite 4th wall breaks I've seen.
