Now open in Wichita is the all-you-can-eat chain, KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot. Located on the east side of Towne East Square, this has been a hotly anticipated opening. As we all know, Wichita loves new restaurants and they love a good buffet. Me included.

The city’s latest eatery has an exterior facing entrance located next to JC Penney on the side of the mall facing Rock Road. If you’re in the mall, you can also access it from inside.

KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot combines the best of both worlds of Asian hot pot and Korean BBQ under one roof in an interactive experience that allows diners to cook the food themselves.

The first question everyone will ask is, “how much is this?”

Prices for all you can eat are on par with most other locations for KPot. Lunch during the weekday for adults which runs between noon and 4 p.m. is $20.99, while dinner is $30.99 from 4 p.m. to close. Then on Saturday and Sunday, it’s dinner pricing at $30.99. Kids range anywhere between $7.99 and $15.99 depending on the day of the week, time, and age.

One thing to note is the entire table must select either all you can eat hot pot, or Korean BBQ or both options which is $5 each per person. So if somebody at the table only wants all you can eat hot pot, but the other person wants BBQ, then you must choose one or the other or both.

I stopped by with some fellow food loving friends as we couldn’t miss out on this opening. So where do I begin?

The phone lines were busy and when I stopped by, it was a thirty-minute wait. By the evening, I’m sure the length grew and grew.

Once seated, every table had built-in burners for the hot pot and a grill. There were tables for sizes of 2, 4 and 6.

Then the dining experience begins. Each table had a tablet and the server walked us through the process.

Our table ordered both all-you-can-eat options and our server then had us order our hot pot to begin. There were eight soup base options to choose from. Everyone had something different. I went with the Thai Tom Yum Soup. It was delicious. Others ordered different bases and enjoyed theirs.

Everyone’s hot pot was placed on a burner that had two heat settings: medium and high. We all kept it on hot until it reached boiling point. During this time, people could add some protein such as beef, seafood, noodles, vegetables, or anything else.

Ordering from the tablet was very straightforward and intuitive. You selected what you wanted and hit send order.

Literally within minutes, runners would bring our food out. It was a very streamlined; never did we have a single issue.

On top of the tablet, there was a buffet line of sauces for the meat, dessert, fruit, and other sides.

I grabbed some kimchi and seaweed salad, but by the time I got back to the table, some of my food arrived.

From there, we were ready to start cooking. Because the meats were thinly sliced, everything took minutes to cook.

Each table had multiple tongs, so everyone could grill at the table.

If you don’t feel comfortable grilling, there were servers who were happy to help at any time.

We ate like kings. And once we were out of food, we kept ordering more food.

And when that was gone, we ordered more. It truly was all you can eat.

We tried nearly every option we could get our hands on. That included beef bulgogi, brisket, short ribs, Angus chuck flap tail, hanger steak, beef tongue, pork belly, calamari, salmon, octopus, shrimp, pineapple, and the list went on and one.

It was safe to say we received our moneys worth.

My favorite meats were probably the short rib, beef tongue, pork belly and octopus. But honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything.

If you’re thirsty, they have alcohol. The three of us split a tower of Long Island Iced Tea.

It should be noted there is a two-hour time limit which we hit. Once our time came up, an employee came by our table and gave us a friendly reminder that our time at KPot was coming to a close.

We made sure to get some dessert. I recommend the tiramisu, it was the perfect ending for our meal.

There seriously was a lot to love at KPot. Everyone at my table was happy.

Aside from the food, which was fantastic, this was an awesome experiential dinner to share with others. Being able to order, grill everything together, and be very interactive, it made for a wonderful time. Aside from taking pictures and videos, most of the time was spent cooking together and chatting it up.

And the service was top-notch. It was the first day of their public soft opening and they really hit a home run. Everything was running on all cylinders. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been to a first day that ran so smoothly.

Literally one of the best restaurant experiences in recent memory. I can’t wait to return to KPot.

Here’s the menu of options available for BBQ and hot pot.
